DESCRIPTION

"After attending a community college (liberal arts major)...and after taking a few basic painting and drawing classes, one of my instructors asked to see all of my work. He suggested that I try and get into Art Center College of Design located in Pasadena, California. (based on the work in my Portfolio). I was accepted and enrolled in their Fashion Illustration program. ACCD was/is primarily a design school, and their Fine-Art program was small but growing. Fashion Illustration was the only program of study that allowed me to pursue my interest in figure drawing and painting. I was fortunate to have some very well-known instructors while at ACCD, and (among others) I studied classical figure drawing under Harry Carmean (a modern-day master of the figure). My "Study Page of Hands" is one of many anatomical studies...based on the model that I completed while at ACCD."


"I've done MANY pages of studies while in life-drawing classes. Studies of hands, feet, figures... I think it is important for art students to really develope their drawing skills...and their knowledge of anatomy. I will say that I don't feel good draftsmanship is necessarily a requirement for success in art. I am aware of many highly successful artists....who really don't draw very well. I happen to enjoy drawing VERY!!!!!!!! much. ...but that is probably apparent when you visit my Gallery." [link]
